William Russell Flint Signed Limited Edition Artist Proof " Chattels " 1929
This is an early print entitled "Chattels" and published by W.J.Stacey in 1929.
It is describe on the back as Artists Proof of which only 200 were produced before the plates were destroyed. Actually 210 were made being the issue of 200 plus 10 for the artist.
This is in the original frame, although re fitted using modern glaziers points and tape.
It is signed by the artist both on the front and the back. It bears the publishers blind stamp.
The original painting was exhibited at the RA exhibition in 1927
A very rare survivor with good colour
Sir William Russell Flint 1880-1969
Scottish born he lived in England, Italy, France and Spain. His skill as a Watercolour artist was once described by the then President of The Royal Academy as a " Baffling Skill ".
He is best well known for his paintings of Mediterranean ladies dancing or resting in flowing ruffled skirts, often without wearing tops or very much at all. This is from his early career when he concentrated much more on interiors and architecture.
Good original, nearly 100 years old, frame so it has some age related wear 24.5 inches by 21 inches; print size is 11.25 inches by 14.125 inches.
