Staffordshire Porcelain Poodles, with Baskets of Flowers. 1800-1820
Poodles were originally hunting dogs and only became house pets in second quarter of the 19th century. The lion cut which these have was to protect them when hunting.
The were originally issued in the 1820's with hand painted bases in pink and purple, they were later re issued lined with gilt. These are the second issue.
He is holding the red basket, has slightly beige fur and a less bushy tail, She has a tiny firing crack on the handle of her basket.
This pair and they are a true pair are in remarkable condition for their with no chips, cracks or visible restoration except as mentioned
