Victorian Fairing "Happy Father! What, Two? Yes Sir, two little beauties"
Victorian Fairing
Fairings were little mementos that the Victorians would buy or win when visiting Fairs.
Made throughout the second half of the 19th century, they were hand made and all hand painted in Germany, but were a very British tradition.
This one is entitled Happy Father! What, Two? Yes Sir, two little beauties and represents a new father stood next to a lady holding his two babies. They were well made with lovely detail
Collectors grade the rarity of fairings, this one is grade C
Lovely little genuine antique fairing. There are many reproduction fairings out there especially at the cheaper end of the market. One way to spot a reproduction is to look at the detail, reproductions are poorly detailed. Also they are made differently, if there are two holes in the base it is a reproduction.
