Victorian Fairing "Twelve Months After Marriage"

Fairings were little mementos that the Victorians would buy or win when visiting Fairs.
Made throughout the second half of the 19th century, they were hand made and all hand painted in Germany, but were a very British tradition.

This one is entitled Twelve months after marriage and represents mum sleeping and Dad being left to hold and feed the baby. They were well made with lovely detail

Collectors grade the rarity of fairings, this one is grade A

Lovely little genuine antique fairing. There are many reproduction fairings out there especially at the cheaper end of the market. One way to spot a reproduction is to look at the detail, reproductions are poorly detailed. Also they are made differently, if there are two holes in the base it is a reproduction. The last photo shows such a reproduction for comparison.
